undetected pup
« on: July 31, 2015, 03:56:24 AM »
avast is not detecting PUP.Optional.OpenCandy
I already reported this multiple times at avast but it is still undetected while most other antivirus are detecting it as PUP or malware

Did you set Avast to pup-detection, by default pup-scanning is off.
Open Candy came as adware PUP with a particular bundled software install.
First uninstall the bundled software that brought it and then install a new version without the additional bundled adware OpenCandy.
If that is not enough you could always ask help from the qualified removal experts here to help you get rid of it.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Have you tested file at  www.virustotal.com
If tested before, click rescan for a fresh result and post link to scan result here

the problem is not that I don't know how to avoid this pup but the fact that avast is not detecting it

Well, as you see from the VT scan Malwarebytes detect it .... so run a scan with Malwarebytes

I know that malwarebytes is detecting it but as I said:

the problem is not that I don't know how to avoid or detect or remove this pup but the fact that avast is not detecting it.
So I'm reporting it here to increase the awareness.
I hope avast will update their database.

I hope avast will update their database.
They do evry day / evry 5-15 minutes ..... just look at how many stream updates you have recived last 24hours

OpenCandy pup is not malicious so it may have a lower priority at the lab   https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCandy
