Hi the newest version released is buggy as hell the iAVS has problems updating alot with the red message I tryed reinstalling  and now I cant get rid of the welcome page on the basic interface which is nackered aswell.

I find that the latest point release is working just fine and am unable to reproduce the errors reported by selecting the same help functions.  The update function is also working normally.  This with Win XP Pro SP2 and similar software (Spybot, Adaware etc) also running with multiple partitions on 5 hard drives.

Have you tried the simple repair option of avast? (Though I suspect your uninstall/reinstall probably should be enough).

One major difference I note is the "longhorn transformation pack".  Perhaps this is not something the avast folks have used in regression testing.

Edit ...

seems your configuration has had a major update since I posted ... and "longhorn transformation pack" has become "Vista Inpirat theme".  Maybe the avast team will be able to respond better when your config settles down.

It is not an avast! bug - it's a very old problem with a Microsoft patch. See here.

I can confirm, latest avast update works just perfect, not a single glitch.
