attached files
« on: November 12, 2003, 09:54:30 AM »
Hello,
I have a little problem: when I send or receive an email with txt or pdf attached file, the software delete it.
It's possible to disable this function or checking the extensions automaticaaly deleted from the software?
Thank you very very very very much
Franz

avast! should not delete any attachment without letting you know about it (at least in the default configurations) - and it certainly should delete only attachments identified as infected. If your .txt attachments are deleted, it may have two reasons:
1. there may be a bug in avast! - what version (build) are you using? Did you update to the latest version (build 289)?
2. the attachments are deleted by "somebody else" - what e-mail program are you using?

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
I'm using 4.1.289 version.
If I create a new txt file and I send it to myself, the virus delete it automatically.
It's possible that I have chaged the default configuration; how can I restore the default setting?
Thank you again,
Franz

Do you have the Home or Pro version? Changing the configuration such that the (infected!) attachments would be deleted without any notice would not be that easy (I mean, you could hardly do it unintentionally) - you'd have to start the Enhanced User Interface (Pro version only), select the Resident Protection task, and in the e-mail protection provider delete the "choose action" item on the "Virus" page - i.e. nothing exactly simple.

What e-mail program do you use?
When your attachment is deleted, is there any notice in the e-mail? (such that it was infected and the attachment was deleted)?

Does the txt file (attach) disappear or not?
If it disappears, is your Outlook Express configurated to deny send/receive attach files?

Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!
I'have solved the problem. I'm sorry but I didn't know that OE has an option with which delete any attacched file that could be potentially infected.
