Internet Mail Provider and XP Pro
« on: November 17, 2005, 04:36:26 PM »
Hi, just downloaded the free version of Avast.

I now find that large attachments in my outgoing emails are not oing out. I read a post about increasing the time-out using Internet Mail Provider - where do I find this?

Also, is it possible to disable Avast from scanning outgoing emails in the free home edition?

It is a pain to switch out Avast every time I send the emails - I may forget to switch it back on again!

1. Your email program, probably complains before avast would so it is important to increase the timeout there also. What is your email program?
What size are the attachments?

 -  exampleTimeout OE

 - Timeout AV

2. Yes it is possible to disable Avast from scanning outgoing emails, but this will leave the potential for detecting trojans, as yet undetected by avast from sending email out from your computer without your knowledge. The avast help file contains much information on the various resident providers and their settings.

Thank Davidr for the reply. I should have looked more closely at the Avast program before I posted the question  ;D - everything one requires to change settings is there! One only needs to study the program carefully! As to the setting for the server - I missed that completely! But then again what does one expecet from a guy on the Southern tip of Africa!
