Reputation Services - do they 'learn'?
« on: August 05, 2015, 05:52:22 PM »
Reputation Services make a big difference to speed of opening some programmes.
Pale Moon (Firefox) and Thunderbird aren't affected too much - about 1s on each - but LibreOffice is longer to open by about 60%; another programme goes from ~2s to 5 - 6s.

I thought that Avast would query the files once and then store the answer for the hash on each file, but this hasn't happened.

The reputation services generally checked against the avast cloud and not on your local system.

Are you sure it is reputation services and not say DeepScreen ?

If it is the same file in LibreOffice you could add it to the exclusions and or send it to avast. If you have signed up to the avast community that should pass anonymous information like this to avast. The more people using it wit avast would I believe add to its reputation score (if said file was digitally signed that to should increase its rep).

Yes, sure - Deep Screen is off.

LibreOffice is just an example, several others are affected.
