Blocking websites and continually scanning
« on: August 11, 2015, 03:52:24 PM »
Hello Everyone, I need some help with these two problems which I think are related.

After the update on August 10, Firefox 39 started blocking access to secure websites giving the untrusted certificate error.  After looking through the forums, I first tried a list of security programs, see below, which did not find anything.  Then I tried to uninstall Avast using the uninstall utility and reinstalling (did not resolve the problems) and then I found the workaround to disable https scanning in Avast Webshield- which solves the certificate issue (not the scanning issue), and leaves me feeling like I'm not as protected as I should be because I never had this problem before.

The second part, which I cannot find any reference to, is that Avast is continually, and I mean it does not stop at all, scanning two items:

http://192............
http://192.............

I am hesitant to list the entire entries because I believe this is my isp access.  Avast lists these items in the currently scanning statistics, my Avast icon does not stop spinning and I can see in my task manager that Avast is constantly using some of the processor.

I have Win XP SP3, always used Avast Free. I usually use this and Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner, Junk Removal Tool and Hitman Pro.  However because of this problem I have recently installed and used SuperAntispyware, Microsoft Safety Scanner, Spybot, Kaspersky Free Security Scan, and TDSSKiller.  None of which found anything.

Does anyone have any more suggestions?  Thank you
