Avast Mobile and root
« on: August 14, 2015, 12:04:09 PM »
I would like to have some of the options enabled only in rooted phones, namely firewall, but I do not dare rooting my phone for security reasons. What if I root my phone, enable firewall (I suppose something is written in system or gets full permissions) and then unroot?

tks

Hi Lorenzo, I am afraid this is not possible, as the Firewall's functionality depends on access to several system features which require root privileges (unrooting = losing Firewall). If you root your smartphone, you will have more functionality, but the opportunity for malicious apps to take control will also increase (but of course if the AMS is installed, you are protected). Plus, in majority cases, you will lose the warranty, so in general we do not recommend it, only to some really advanced users. I hope it helps ;)
