Like many readers no doubt, I took advantage of the free offer of an upgrade one week ago, using a second hand Thinkpad Edge which had Windows 7 installed on it by the dealer (at my request as I did not want Win 8).
Win 10 installed successfully one week ago, until for some reason it would not boot. By luck or patience it eventually did boot up. I tried to create a Restore point immediately, since there was not one, which is unusual after a new OS has been installed.
I tried the recommended route by right-clicking on the Windows icon (bottom of screen - left side) via System and Safety, only to find that Windows 7 is still displayed as the OS, which I had already noticed via Windows Explorer, so I created a Restore point for that since perhaps it would be incorporated in the Win 10 system that is actually operating, after the 'return to Win 7' option has expired .
There is an option to return to Win 7 within a month of the upgrade, so perhaps after that date the Win 7 files will be replaced by Win 10 files automatically including the Sys Restore point.....Unfortunately, as you can appreciate, if you have to earn your living with the system, "perhaps" is not good enough. Can anyone recommend whether it would be better to return to Win 7, or, to trust that Win 10 program files will start to be displayed on Explorer (as you would have expected) after one month?

[The Thinkpad was bought in Germany and I can deal with that language (that is my job although English is my mother tongue) although while installing it did say in English that the option to change the OS language to English would be available in the process (it was not so Win 10 is in German too), but let's not get side-tracked since the language isn't the problem.]
