I'm not saying Office 2003 is same as 2013 but I would assume potential Avast issue is.
Seems Avast knows and has fixed but not rolled out....just FYI.

Sounds interesting. Let's hope it will fix Office 2013 too  :)

Hi,

we already have fix for Outlook 2003, it will be released in  next few days. Regarding the Office 2013 issues we weren't able to reproduce it yet, but working on it.

Could you please try to install the latest beta to see if the issue is solved in your case?

Well, this time I will skip this beta, because the latest Office here works fine too. Maybe because I am on AIS?...  ???

Hi there.

I am currently on Avast Internet Security with the latest Release-version to date and keep hitting the fan with my Office 365.
Regardless wether it be Word, Excel, PowerPoint or anything else, I get an instant "stopped working" followed sometimes by an Error-Window.

I am getting debuggable information on this error as the following:

Sry for german Error parameters, I hope you can figure the points out!
Code: [Select]
Problemsignatur:
  Problemereignisname: APPCRASH
  Anwendungsname: WINWORD.EXE
  Anwendungsversion: 15.0.4745.1000
  Anwendungszeitstempel: 55a4b990
  Fehlermodulname: ntdll.dll
  Fehlermodulversion: 6.3.9600.17936

This is the same when opening anything else!
I am currently on Win 8.1 x64 with Defender and UAC turned completely off and no Virus warnings / positive Scans lately.
This incident keeps happening quite often and not only with Office, but also with Office-Services (Office Telemetry Agent) or the UpgradeToWin10-Service.

I hope there is a possible fix for this and I will try reinstall Avast-IS as soon I find the time and will check back on the forums regularly.

Best Regards!

By simply overinstalling the BETA you mentioned in this Post, the problems I experienced with this have been completely solved it seems.
There are neither Service-Stop as described, nor will Office not open.

It all works well now and I will stay with this BETA until a newer Release will be available.

Thank you a lot!
Best Regards

Glad to hear Avast has fixed the problem. :)
(Strange thing is that even with a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro and Office 2013, I never had the problem.)

Hi,

I'm glad to say that the beta Avast program solved my issues. All my Office apps open now without any problems. I'm currently using the suggested Beta build from the link above (AVAST 2015 R4 Beta 1 (build number 2015.10.4.2227).)

Thanks Martin !

And could someone please let me know when the beta is moved to standard download and I'll install that version.

Thanks for being diligent and resolving the issues.

You should get a notice from within Avast. When that happens, simply update. :)

Sorry for being late replying to this thread. I'm happy to see that beta version fixed this issue. I'll wait for the stable release in the next few weeks to install.

Thanks to all the Avast team as always for their fast response!

Question for the Avast guys:
Does the beta update to the standard release channel version or does it update to the next beta version?

Both. Regular after the beta ends. Next beta once it's released.

Hi,

I am glad to hear that this beta solved this issue. Sometimes we are lucky enough to make a release that fixes more things than it breaks  ;)

If you are on beta channel than you will get of course the final release, but then you will again get the beta of next version. So if you prefer the stable channel, then it's better to install the stable version again over this beta. When the final version is out, it will be announced here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2.0 including download links.

Hi, I have spend the last two days trying to get Microsoft Office 2012 to work on a Windows 10 64bit system. Installed en re-installed for 5 or 6 times and tried a number of possible solutions. Now I read this topic and installed the beta version of Avast Premier. And now it works without any problems! Thanks for the tip and I hope this beta goes final soon.
