Windows reports no Virus-Protection
« on: November 22, 2005, 09:49:20 AM »
I have
Avast 4.6 HomeEdition
  Build Nov2005 4.6.731
  Xtreme Toolkit Version 1.9.4.0
  ActiveSkin 4.2.7.3
VPS
  Compilingdate 20.11.2005
  File-Version 0546-6

Since today my Windows XP reports that my Virus-Protection is not available.
In the Windows-Security-Center it reports in the section Virusprotection "not found"

I have german Versions - so i hope i translated everything correct.

Answers for XP Security Center not detecting anti-virus program could be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883792 (the link was kindly found by David...).

I never dived in so deep into windows - but now i need - so i tried the thing with the gpedit.msc - it will not work - same reason like reported there - Snap in will not work -
tried the
sfc /scannow
realy it needed the cd and copied dll's
the snap in will still not work.

than i looked into the event-log - i saw there the Time32 is not synchronized - thought i remove every error when i am busy with this - that brought me to a MS-Page where i should enter
"net start time32"

i entered that and recogniced - ther is no path set to my C:\Windows\System32 - is this normal?

I think i have to fix some more problems - the red icon was only the startsignal to look what's going wrong.

btw this all started when i installed WinFS Avalon CTP,... and all releated lastweek - have the final-version from the DeveloperStudio2005 running with Framework 2.0 and
this installed 2.0 Beta beside - nothing worked - i removed all 2.0 releated and 2.0 Beta releated - reinstalled the VS2005 and now that all is happening. BTW the SnapIn for the MSSQL-Enterprisemanager is not working anymore.

Path is set in the Panel - i had to enter "PATH" in the Console-window - than it worked - whats the reason therefore?

No. It should be there into System > Advanced > Environment variables > Path

Ops... your system has deep troubles... I can't even guess a solution easily...
Maybe overinstalling Windows.

The time-thing is solved - was:
Dieser aktuelle SNTP-Wert ist: time.windows.com,0x1
now i changed it and mySNTP-Server is my Domain-Server.
This is blocked by myrouter i think - mycomputer is only allowed for webserfing - the Domainserver has mor rights there - and i got the time from the server correkt.
