Windows 10 - Elara app
« on: August 26, 2015, 08:10:19 PM »
Ok,
Leaving aside that Avast EPS does not yet work with Windows 10.
The free version does, so does Avast IS.

However I noticed that with Win 10 Home and Avast IS both the Win10 & Avast Firewalls were switched off.  I cannot start the Avast Firewall but I can start the Win10 firewall.

What I did notice was that after scheduling a BootTime scan and restarting the laptop Win10 reported an App called Elara was preventing the shutdown.
It appears that many people are reporting this as a possible virus. More worrying is that MS Tech Support seem to know nothing about this App and suggest the user must have installed it.
Nope I didn't I actually deleted lots of crap the Win10 installed.

So is Elara a virus or PUP or just crap left behind by something ?

The PC running Win10 and the Avast free (instead of the paid for EPS) does not report this issue.
Nor have I had issues with the firewall.

The AIS firewall and windows 10 problem is usually resolved by one or two boots

Elara is the title for Apntex.exe that is an app to control touchpad (so you will have this problem only on notebook).

Maybe on first run Apntex.exe can't closed successfully, so the error ...
