Next step:
  • What is needed is to verify you have the Windows 10 setup files downloaded to your system before we can proceed to upgrade to Windows 10.  To do that, you will need to change your file/folder settings to show hidden folders and files.  See attached below to see what you need to do step by step
  • Navigate to your C: drive and look for folders marked '$Windows.~BT' that are approximately 3.23 GB in size  If you see them, and you confirm they are that size, then you have successfully downloaded the entire setup file for Windows 10
  • Open Control Panel>Click File Explorer Options
  • Click View>Click hidden files, folders, and drives
  • Also click 'Hide protected operating system files'
  • Click Apply
Do you see the folder marked $Windows.~BT?

Please follow bob3160's link to help you out and use this post to confirm all is in place.

Not if you're using the tool Microsoft supplies. The link I posted in my reply leads you to that link. :)

Sorry, this question is for my desktop. I recently updated my desktop to windows 10 and now the resolution is messed up. The computer claims 2048*1152 is the most optimal resolution but that doesnt work since the screen starts to shake and is not scaled correctly. Can someone please help find whats the best display settings for my desktop? Thank you all for your help!

So it is but certainly not related to updating windows.  ;)  And no information about the systems hardware.

I'm here again, sorry. I had restored my laptop back to factory settings since some problems were still persisting. And now, I having the same problem of not being able to update to windows 8.1. I get the message: "Your windows 8.1 install couldn't be completed. Something happened and the install of windows 8.1 can't be completed." I wonder why I always have this problem.

Check to see if there are any hidden updates that you need to install.
If you don't find any, then see if this helps you update to Windows 8.1:

The other option is to create install media of Windows 8.1 and do the install from that media (Select the option to keep your files and settings):

Ok, I got to windows 8.1 again. I should of mentioned this earlier but the biggest problem I've been having with my laptop is that its disconnects itself from the internet. Also, I get a caution sign on the wifi. I dont think its a problem with the wifi itself since this problem dosent occur with other devices. I woudl really appreciate help on this since it been happening for a while
