2 AV's on Android--Needing to Have Just One?; Desktops
« on: September 03, 2015, 02:16:27 AM »
Hi.  I have Avast Mobile Security (4.0.7891; Free) and Lookout (9.25.1-8dfe55e; T-Mobile Edition); I think there is supposed to be only one on a desktop--does this rule apply to phones?  If I need to remove one, which one--why?
     Thanks,
          Anthony

The same thing applies as on PC think of it like this. "Too many cooks spoil the broth". The single handed biggest problem is to be honest is the fact that they will be fighting for processing power and ram. (That's on android, on a PC there are low level drivers employed by AV vendors including Avast which could crash your PC on rebooting if there are two running together). I take it you have real time scanning turned on for both of them?

Hi--thanks for the reply.  I now only have Lookout and Avast Anti-theft on my phone--I'm okay with the rule, right?  Lookout says it scans in real time.
     Thanks again,
                      Anthony

P.S. Is it okay to close out the my.avast.com window instead of logging out?  This is my personal PC.

Yeah you are nice with that combination. Why did you not use Avast Mobile Security in place of lookout? Don't worry it's not an attack or anything I am just interested. :-)

P.S. That is fine but it's a little insecure  just don't be surprised if after a while it times you out and forces you to log in again. Which of course you are free to do.

Hi.  I figured T-Mobile would reinstall Lookout (they did this with various programs when I had the MyTouch Q phone a long time ago), so I figured I'd stick with Lookout since Avast MS does about the same thing.  If you have a differing opinion, I'd like to hear it.

As long as you have some protection is better then nothing to be honest. Do you have the premium version of lookout or the free version? I would say avast is better for all round protection. If you have the premium version of lookout then it makes sense to keep it but if not.............The forms (if you need help with your AV) is definitely better here which hopefully will mean you get help faster.

Hi.  I have the free version of Lookout; The Avast Anti-Theft gives me the abilities that Lookout charges for.  I agree that because of this business model that Avast is better, but I just need something to watch out for malware; Anti-Theft gives me the tools to be secure if my phone is lost or stolen.
     Have a good day,
