no function after delete virus from container

Hi,

a friend of mine have a problem with avast!. Avast found a virus and moved the virus to the container. I think everything worked fine until he deleted the virus-file from the container. After he did it, there was no avast! function anymore!!! There is no tray-icon, no protection on the system and microsoft winXP says, that no virus protection is installed!!! I don't know which virus it was, but has anyone any idea? I would say the virus is still on the system.

Here it is called Chest, not container, I suppose.

Is he sure that he delete the virus and not restore?

Which is his operational system? Firewall?
Any other antivirus or security program installed?

Ok, sorry.

he 's got win XP, no additional firewall or antivirus/security programm. I will ask him, if he deleted the virus. best thing will be to visit him and make my own view. thanks.
