What is this folder created in system temp directory? It contains several application folders? Didn't find answer with Google.

At first I half suspected that it may have something to do with the software updater function. But there are folders for other AVs and software that I don't have installed and would be strange for the software updater.

Whilst there are a lot of program folders they all appear to be empty.

Hopefully one of the avast team can shine some light on this.

Yes, they are all pretty much empty. In Firefox folder, there's a couple updater files. I have Firefox.

They can't be too critical as I have just run CCleaner (as a test) and checked the avast antivirus option in Applications and it has removed those folders and the main avast_ash2.

I will run/refresh the software updater and see if they are regenerated.

EDIT: Refreshed it and they didn't regenerate. Interestingly software updater was reporting out of date software for FF 40.0.3, which is the current regular release and nothing from the FF UI, about firefox, reporting up to date.

Have tried to get rid oet three avast_ash2 folders by running CCleaner but they just
regenerate themselves.
These three folders show as empty.

Please assist with permanent removal.

Of course avast is going to recreate these folders when they are required. If they are empty after use there is no appreciable HDD space overhead.
