« on: September 13, 2015, 12:09:19 AM »
Win 10 64

I installed Avast Free & after install it mention Windows Defender not compatible & uninstall it.
Windows Defender is disabled.
You know Windows Defender cant be uninstalled.

Would Avast incompatibility with WD be a prob or safe to use Avast?

Attached is the screenshot

Strange, I've installed Avast on many Windows 10 systems and have never seen this popup.
I've reported it to Avast. Let's see if we get an answer. :)

avast should have disabled Windows Defender automatically.

Was this a clean install of avast or over the top?
Have you tried a repair?

Control Panel>Uninstall a Program>double click "avast">click "repair">reboot.

As far as I'm aware avast doesn't disable Windows Defender, that is the operating system that does that when you install a 3rd party AV.

Apologies for late reply guys.

I had tried Avast in Shadow Defender & got the WD incompatibility popup.

But when I tried on real system no WD incompatibility popup.

Hi yesnoo,

this is actually bug, and we weren't able to reproduce it. Avast is checking for other AVs during installations and shows this warning at the end. But Defender is on the whitelist and you shouldn't see this message. We cannot turn off Defender and running Defender+Avast is also ok

This doesn't mean that Defender doesn't get shut off. Windows 10 shuts down Defender when you install a third party Antivirus:

Hello yesnoo,

we are trying to reproduce this issue, can you tell me more about your system configuration, including other installed programs?

Thank you

I have already mentioned in my previous post no incompatibility prob/popup on real system.

The popup appeared on trying Avast in Shadow Defender.
