Windows 10 critical error
« on: September 25, 2015, 05:54:16 AM »
I have been using Avast for many years now. It is always my first recommendation to all my clients who ask my opinion on an antivirus . I do PC repairs. I have one issue which I would like to mention and hope this information will to some extent contribute to a solution.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1. I love the upgrade and do not wish to roll back to 8.1. There is that critical error that comes up after a while and makes it almost impossible to use the computer: "Critical Error:  Your start menu isn't working.  We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in." The only option is to sign out which doesn't solve anything and the cycle just repeats indefinitely.

After doing some experimenting I found that when I uninstalled Avast Premier and restarted my PC it is working fine with no errors. I would really like to continue using Avast so I thought I would pass on this info to get the Avast team to look into it.

Regards,

Hello,

I am experiencing the same problem.

When I start Windows10 and having installed free AVAST I will get
either
"CRITICAL ERROR - Start Menu and CORTANA aren't working. W'll try to fix it the next time you sign in."
or
"Schwerwiegender Fehler. Das Menü Start und Cortana funktioniert nicht. Wir bemühen uns, das Problem bis zur nächsten Anmeldung zu beheben." (since I am a german ;-)

The latest Avast version I tried was AVAST 2015 R4 build 2233.

There has been some posting that Avast it not to blame for that. Ok, we all know microsoft products and their quality ;)
BUT that does NOT help me.
The only way for me to work properly is to uninstall Avast.

I would like to have Avast back and I would also like to have a computer that just works when I need it.

How many Avast users are suffering under this problem?

Even so it might not be the fault of Avast, is the Avast team addressing this problem?

Best Regards,
Michael

Did you read the response just before your post ???
Follow it and your problem will be solved.
This is a Microsoft problem not Avast.
