Has anyone had problems using Cobian11 after installing Avast?
I have been using Cobian11 for a couple of years to backup every day's work to an external WD "Passport" hard drive. It seldom malfuntioned.
A few days ago I installed the free version of Avast. I find it excellent and have just registered it.
Since installing Avast, the Cobian backup software is disabled every morning when I fire up the computer. I have had to do a quick partial reinstall of Cobian every evening, to cure the "Engine not found" error message. It does not take long, but is tedious to do every evening, only to find the same problem next morning. I think that Cobian11 does not have a digital signature; maybe that is the problem.
I have tried to add some Cobian directories and subdirectories to the Avast Exclusion list, but to date this had made no difference to the morning disabling of Cobian:
Present exclusions:
C:\Users\Martin\Downloads\Computer programs\Cobian\*
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cobian Backup 11\Settings\*
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cobian Backup 11\DB\*
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cobian Backup 11\Logs\*
C:\Program Files (x86)\Cobian Backup 11\cbInterface.exe
My computer is a Dell Optiplex 3020 running Windows 7 Pro (64 bit).
Any solutions or suggestions, please?
Martin.
