Are any of yall using free or premium Avast virus software? You should know that either is extremely dangerous!
I have just spent two days of my life trying to get my computer up and running again after I received an alert that my Windows Software (I use the newest version #10) was suffering from critical errors associated with its "Start" functions.
The message was from Microsoft and did not offer a solution, just the "alert". I managed to use my cell phone to research the issue because my computer had become all but entirely useless. My cell phone showed that there were multiple links addressing this problem but none that were of any help whatsoever. I tried everything shown on the Google links addressing this problem that were found on my search using my cell. But nothing published by any source worked including those from Microsoft themselves. In fact, every link addressing this issue was extremely wordy but totally lacking in anything that even came close to a solution.
Just as I was about to give up and take my computer in for repair, I saw a post suggesting that the problem was unique to those who were using the paid for or the free version of Avast Virus software. It said that all you had to do was uninstall it and the problem would be solved. Having had other problems before which were created by Avast products that got my attention. I did indeed have their anti-virus software and proceeded to remove if from my "program" files found in my Control Panel.
But even accessing My Control Panel was extremely difficult so you can probably begin to see the seriousness this rogue software was capable of creating. FINALLY I was able to access my Control Panel and remove Avast.
AND THAT SOLVED THE ENTIRE PROBLEM!
Avast is one of the most downloaded virus prevention software's on the internet and you probably have friends using it. Of course you have no way of knowing that for sure so consider forwarding this email to those on your contact list. I was just very lucky to find the solution and it took me 2 days to even get that lucky.
They may not be having problems now (I wasn't either) but they will. And I doubt they will be as lucky as I was to find out the cause.
I have previously asked for a refund for both products I use. But all I got was a "form" response demanding I answer a variety of questions. And just to see if that would make any difference I answered their "interrogatories" but have yet to get a refund or for that matter even a response.
Companies like Avast will ultimately be the cause giving the Feds all the excuse they need to regulate the Internet. And maybe that is better than being scammed by the likes of Avast!
