The place where I work has a virus that causes folders on USB thumb drives to be turned into shortcuts. It's very annoying and I have not been able to remove it. This computer is not connected to the Internet, which causes the anti-virus software that I have tried to stop working at the point where it tries to update it's malware database, or make me register the software, which I can't do.

Will I have this problem with Avast? if so, is there a work-around?

I would really like to get rid of this problem.

Thanks,
-Don
