Copy/Paste to Flash Drive?
« on: October 10, 2015, 05:00:08 PM »
Every time I try to copy/paste v2016 to a flash drive it won't copy the "properties"?
Any ideas?

What is it that you are trying to copy, presumably just the off-line installation/setup file ?

I have been saving these setup files to a USB flash drive for some considerable time without issue. I have just downloaded it and renamed it to reflect the build number as I normally do and it is in the process of transferring to my 8 GB USB stick.

It has just completed successfully.

Well seems to be a weird feature in win10 as this isn't happening in this XP system (image1). I can see the normal properties function working from the USB stick.

It would seem strange if this function would be available in old OSes, yet not in the latest.

Thanks David,

For the confirmation. It seems to be a Win10 glitch.
It would be nice to get some feedback from the avast team.

Hopefully some other avast beta tester/s on win10 can confirm this action.

This would seem to be an OS issue rather than specifically an avast one, given it is an avast file, the OS is able to extract the icon image into the dialogue window.

Are you getting this on any other executables/files you are copying to a USB ?

Nope. Just avast.

I agree, it would be nice to hear from other Win10 users to see if they can replicate my issue.
Like many others I carry a flash drive with various installation files for easier installs on other peoples computers.
And avast is the only one with this issue. Your confirmation leads me to believe it's a Win10 and avast issue.

Any ideas?

You use Comodo FW, right?

Comodo has an option in the autosandbox settings "Source tracking". This changes ADS Alternate Data Stream of files.
Guess its the reason for the properties thing you have mentioned.
But I guess its not a prob i.e when I use to get the properties thing I simply clicked Yes. And the installers, etc... use to work fine.

I don't use the sandbox in CFW.
I guess I'll just copy/paste without the properties.
But the properties should be transferred along with the rest of the installer.
