License Renewal Failure Notification
« on: October 09, 2015, 03:53:11 PM »
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this to but wanted to ask the question.  I recevied an email today from what 'looked' like Avast regarding a failure on auto-renewal of my license file.  My card has changed so the payment obviously did not clear.  What was suspicious about the email is that it wanted to take me to a site I didn't recognize: http://avast-us.nexway.com.  I did a whois lookup on this and it is registered to someone in France.  Here is the interesting part whether this is a legit site or not:

1 - It had my renewal dates and product information which makes me believe it is legit
2 - It included (for my convenience) my userid AND password (in plain text) to login to my portal to renew. Of course the password provided was not my current password so not sure where this came from.  I have to say if this is a legit email it shows poor judgement for a security company.
3 - I logged into the avast site (the legit site) and could see no place in my portal to update my card information.

So, color me confused.  I'm not sure if this was legit.  It not no big deal, if so please change your notifications to remove the userid and password.  Also, please let me know where in the avast portal I can update my card information for my auto-renewal.

Thanks
