Under Network Profiles: there is no option for Friends radial box any longer.
This is for Program version:  17.3.2291 (build 17.3443.0)

Hi all, I recently purchased a large screen smart TV and found I could not get my laptop to cast to my Gen 1 Chromecast. I hunted all over the internet with the usual comment about rebooting everything and switching everything off and starting again. I gave up on that idea years ago as it never makes any difference to these types of problems. A few other "experts" maintained that a Chromecast does not work with a VPN running but my phone still connected perfectly even with Surfshark running on both devices. Finally somebody suggested it may be related to antivirus software so I took a look at the Avast forum and sure enough there was the answer. For those using Avast One go into explore and click on Firewall, this brings up untrusted items which in my case was Surfshark and my Sky network. Switching these to trusted resolved the problem and now my laptop finds all the castable devices. Hope this may help others in the same situation I was in.

Posting in a topic getting on for 9 years old when much has changed isn't advisable.

At the time of writing Avast didn't even have a VPN component (nor Avast One) and VPN wasn't even mentioned in the topic.
