Hi lets have a quick look with a diagnostic log to see if anything jumps out

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Select  additions at the bottom
  • Press Scan button.

  • It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please attach both logs generated.

Here the logs and thanks for the help

I have to say have set all avast protection modules and unpackers to high level,

So, i know , obviously it will increase the scan time

But its not explain why the scan jumps to some number of %

the correct behaviour , once again, is from 0 to 1% and so on

Here the logs

Thank you

I can see no reason why the scan does not progress as there are no other low level hooks that could disrupt it.  I am also running a scan on my windows 10 to see if I could replicate it and I can't

During the scan do the file names at the top change on a fairly regular basis
