2 problems...

I am having 2 problems. One is the scanner will not save any changes I make and for p2p its scanning programs I dont even have installed and it wont let me change it to the ones I have. This is the same for Instant Messaging aswell.

Also. Recently a game I play (RTCW). Has stopped working and I belive it has something to do with punkbuster (anti cheat). I was wondering if Avast is blocking this or what?

Sometimes, losing settings could be solved this way:

Change them and let avast! as you want.
Exit and shutdown all avast! providers (the last option in the system tray menu).
Boot 

Which is your Windows? 98, Me, XP?
Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.
