Outlook 2003 Interface Not Registered
« on: December 01, 2005, 10:37:37 PM »
I have just installed Avast 4.6 home addition.

If I use Word 2003 as my e-mail editor in outlook 2003 when I click the send button on an e-mail I get the error message Interface Not Registered.

If I switch to the standard e-mail editor everything is fine.

Any ideas?

I am using XP Pro SP 2 and have all the latest MS updates installed including the Dot Net Framework 2.0 which I need for SQL Sever 2005 and Dev Studio 2005.

Are you seeing a message with "usigetskin failed"?
Can you post a screenshot of the error message?

No other errors.

The errorthat comes up is just a standard windows message box with Microsoft Office Word on the title bar and Interface not Registered as the main text.

There is nothing else I have noticed.

I have a similar problem with Outlook 2003 - the antivirus is not running for Outlook.  Icon on taskbar says "Avast on-line scanner: 7 providers total, 6 running."  The one not running is for Outlook/Exchange.  Anyone have any help on this?

Make sure the avast plugin is not disabled into MS Outlook:

Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items
Outlook 2000 > Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-In Manager.

As reported a lot of times, the message "The provider is waiting on the subsystem to start" will be shown there until you open MS Outlook.
The plugin will be enabled automatically after that.

Nope the plugin is enabled.

I am not seeing the message "The provider is waiting on the subsystem to start".

It all seems fin until I try to send an e-mail using word as the editor.

Any other ideas please?

And then, what is the error message?
Can you post a screenshot?
Word is the editor but it can't send the email by itself...

Thanks for all your help.

I apologise as in the end this turned out to be an office problem and not Avast, it did happen by coincidence after I installed avast.

In the end I had to do Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

Problem solved and once again I apologise if I wasted anyones time  :'(
