After I upgraded to Windows 10 I found that frequently when I would start debugging from MSVC 2005 and 2008 that my computer would partially hang.  Music would keep playing, I could move the mouse, various animations would still work but I cant access CTRL-ALT-DEL, switch windows, switch tabs in an open browser, etc.  The computer never comes out of this so I am forced to force power it down.  Ive tried setting exclusions on the runtime directories that the debug sessions run out of but that doesnt fix the problem.  My only "solution" right now is to disable File Protection.  Does anybody have any idea how to track down WHY file protection is causing this?

Windows 10 is not yet supported from what I have read.

It installed without any issues or warnings.  This could be a compatibility issue then.

If you're using the Cloud Base Business version, you are correct. It's Windows 10 compatible.
If you're using Avast's Endpoint Protection, it's not compatible with Windows 10.

Hi Kevrianate,

Have you tried an exclusion for the .exe its self? IF you haven't, give that a shot and if you still have issues, use the support or live chat option in the portal so we can create a ticket and take a look to see if we can tell what is happening.

Thanks!

Jeff

No I hadnt, I had excluded the directory assuming that would exclude everything within the directory and its subdirectories.  I can give excluding just the executable a try in a little while.

Excluding the specific executable did NOT help.  My laptop still locked up when debugging.  I have opened a support ticket on this.

Update 10.3.2508 did NOT fix MSVC debugging locking up my laptop.
