Mine updated but still has the beta tag. Should I do a clean install?

If you had previously used the beta versions, you are on the beta stream - so should another beta come out you would get it.

If you are happy that this is intentional then leave it - otherwise do a reinstall to the latest version and you will be of the beta stream and no Beta branding on the UI.

<snip>
1) Seems to have duplicated all of my devices in my online account.  Weird.  Licenses don't show duplicates, but I have dupes of every device in the device list.

2) Don't know where to access the scan history.  I liked that tool in the older version.
<snip>

1. the accuracy of the my.account.com has been mentioned by others and I believe it is being revamped as it is hard for it to know when an installation has been uninstalled, etc.  I had to delete not just duplicates but all devices involved in the duplication and then connect (login) from the UI.

2. Just click the Scan icon that expands the options - then click the Scan for Viruses (not very intuitive if looking for scan history). This allows you to select a scan, so nothing runs immediately, at the bottom of that page you have other options, one being the Scan History.

There has been some explanation from Avast here with regard to accuracy:https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178417.0

Avast NG front end is persistent and taking cpu cycles.  In the past when you first installed Avast, it took a couple minutes to prepare itself then faded into the background.  Now it just stays constantly working.

Running the latest version but when I do a manual Program update, I get the following:

If I select the update under Essential update, I get the following:

This bug has been there since the last Beta version of Avast 2016.

I've been using Avast for over 12 years but each time I update the program I have to register again.  Why doesn't Avast remember when I registered the first time?  I've become a super poster in 2 days?

Can you be more specific ?

Avast has several areas in which it uses memory.

Personally I don't check memory usage as a matter of course, only if I were to find things running slow in which case I would check resource use CPU and RAM. Otherwise I just get on with what I'm doing.

Like just about any new feature, there seem to be major bugs in the new Password thing.  After supposedly setting it up properly for Firefox, including deleting the browser's saved passwords and removing permission for Firefox to save new entries, on only one occasion did it properly provide a good new password.  And the box where it offers to do so often won't permit any entry, but instead shows a number in a circle -- on one occasion it actually changed my user-name instead of the password.  :o

After a few hours the Password icon mysteriously disappeared from the Firefox toolbar and I was totally unable to access it.

I suspect the problem may tie in with the almost simultaneous update of Firefox (to 42.0) and an unexpected incompatibility between the new versions of each.  I've mostly recovered by disabling the Passwords extension (avast still shows it as integrated with the browser, interestingly) and restoring a backup profile, which at least gives me most of my old passwords back into Firefox.  Still can't get logged into Amazon or my ISP's customer service ("incorrect" username-password combo in both cases), although the latter will on request do the cleanup from their end.

Hopefully Avast and Mozilla will get their heads together and straighten this mess out quickly, since it's fairly critical.

Oh, it was simply just a curiosity on how efficient it runs compared to the other versions, which ran pretty efficiently and rarely used a ton of RAM..

I run custom full system scans and not once did I see any way possible to delete a custom scan.
To be honest, I never even looked for a way to delete a custom scan. I set-up my custom scan
then forget about it till the next clean install.

Like RejZoR I'm asking how does a user delete a custom scan?  ???

I'm confident in saying that there are some users who set-up a custom scan to run once and never use it again.
They, the user, have a particular and precise reason for running a custom scan and won't need to run it again...ever.
It would be nice to know how to delete a custom scan.

Frankly, I'm impressed with the fact that all is running extremely smooth on my xp with no issues with installed modules
-Safezone is working great, a little high on resources for this old machine but useable.
-New Password feature work nicely
-Full system scan smooth and fairly short compared to other versions
-Software Updater just fine.
-No Problem Surfing with FF latest and I like the new SafeZone and PayMode

I can't speak for the Free Version but after running everything I need on my Avast Premier, I would renew very easily.
Nice Job and Learning the new GUI is just that, Learning a new GUI ;)
Nice Job  8)

The Avast Safezone is better than the previous one.
But, it always bugged me with Saving Password even though, "Offer to save passwords I enter on the web" is unchecked.
A bug, I guess.
