Not sure if it's a weird coincidence or what, but after installing this newest update, youtube videos are almost twice as big, and I can't change it?
anyone run into anything like that? could changes to webrep have done something with that?

Installed the 2016 version from download directly from Avast. The new password segment of the program only works on Google Chrome browser and not Firefox vers 42.0.
I read somewhere that Firefox will no longer accep extions, ie: tthe password segment bar is not loaded onto firefox browser. Has anyone else had this problem with firefox?

Firefox 42 is supported by Avast Passwords. I suggest to start Firefox, go to about:addons and check that Avast Passwords is there and it's enabled. if it's disabled, enable it. Then, open Avast, go to Settings -> Passwords, scroll down and click "install" into Firefox (again).

The installer will not run on my Windows XP with Athlon XP 3000+ processor.  This processor is not SSE2.

Have you tried a fresh download of the setup file to rule out a download problem ???

Hi Bob.  I did what you suggest.  The error message box in my screenshot shows "Reason: NoSSE2".

I am increasingly aware that older processors are falling by the wayside.  AVG, Agnitum and now Avast have all released software which apparently require SSE2 instructions.  2016 seems to be a SSE2 watershed for security software releases.  SSE2 has been a requirement for Chrome based web browsers since around late 2014.  The writing is on the wall.

Chrome will soon also be endibg support for XP, Vista and OSX 10.8:

I'm very disappointed with Avast Passwords. It loaded all of my passwords from Chrome. In the Avast passwords menu I try to manage my passwords, and the list keeps refreshing over and over. Then when I simply try to scroll down, it automatically scrolls back up to the top so that I can't access any passwords further down the list!

I want Avast to forget my passwords, but I can't even do that. I have to individually select the password and then remove. Is there a select all function? Ctrl + A won't work. The list keeps moving back to the top before I can do anything.

i used the custom install when i installed avast and unchecked the password BS, i manage my own passwords , its called "pen and Paper and a 500 pound safe, lol, if your PC crashes your stored passwords are gone ....right ?, so why use a password manager , i hope your issue gets fixed tho.

I have tried re installing this new version but I still get the AvastSvc.exe using 15-20% of my CPU.

It does not start straight away it starts about 5 minutes after I boot.

I am running Avast version 11.1.2241.
Windows 10

It is really annoying me ... any ideas anyone?

Avast 2015 didn't update from UI, so I try to install from the installer fresh downloaded and have the same message :(

The password feature is, I believe, only available in the Pay version. Also, Avast now has a new
feature, that inserts a line into any email you send that says: "this email was sent from a clean
computer protected by Avast" ... I think you can disable it in Email Options. A somewhat sneaky
way to help advertise the product.

<snip>

As far as I'm aware, the free version of avast has a limited function set for the Avast Passwords feature - I don't know anywhere that states in detail what is available for free and the premium options in the paid avast versions.

@ kanon86
For people concerned about the freezing problems on Vista in previous versions:

I bit the bullet and installed this version this morning. System has been running for 10 hours straight and no problems so far. Before, my computer would freeze after not even 15 minutes of browsing the internet, so I believe the issue is finally solved. I'm guessing it was thanks to the improved Web Shield Https scanning mentioned in the OP.

If I run into a problem, I'll be sure to post. If I don't post again in the next 48 hours, then consider everything is fine.

Is your system Vista 32bit or 64?

32 bit.

Everything's still working perfectly by the way.

I took the plunge and my Vista 32 bit computer is still working with the new avast after 2 days. I did have a problem when I updated Fire Fox 42. Seems this FF version has bugs that are related to scripts. Went back to earlier version and it is working well with Avast 2016. Only concern for me now is everything seems to take longer.

Your last remark seems to confirm what I am experiencing.

My computer (Windows 10 64bit) uses an Intel Q6600, that is a respectable quad core CPU (even though the nowadays processors are way more powerful) with 8 GB RAM.
Yet since installing this last version, avast is constantly using between 27 and 35% of the CPU resources, even when not any program is opened (beyond my utilities).

Any idea or suggestion?

It is such an enormous jump in resources usage, from avast 2015 (that ran at about 10% top), that frankly, I am beginning to think of searching a less voracious security suite!
