trouble on my update of Internet Security in Nov as CPU stuck near 100% after restart so PC damned slow. Discovered fix was to reload complete Avast, but first remove remnants completely with IOBIT Uninstaller. THought it had caught a virus somewhere at first!
Noticed Webrep not working in Mozilla 42.0, previous version OK. Must I change to Chrome?
Also annoying append to emails that says something like "OKed by Avast". Not able to delete. Paid version so surely should have option to stop this?

Any advice appreciated

WebRep is no more, Avast Online Security (AOS) is the new version and should work with firefox 42.0, the AOS add-on is supposedly signed so it should work.

Avast can now sign web mail, but the settings are in the Mail Shield, this is likely to change soon and duplicated in the mail and web shields (for those not using the Mail Shield).
Clean Notes - avastUI > Settings > Active Protection > Mail Shield > Customize > Behaviour - uncheck the unwanted options.

Where has the boot scan option gone to in 2016?  The 2015 UI had it under scans, and now it's not there - build 11.1.2241.  It's why I've used and recommended Avast for a number of years.

Still in the same place essentially - just the front page has changed - avastUI > Scan > Scan for viruses - now select which scan you want from the drop down list.

Thanks gents - 'boot scan'and 'boot-time' scan wasn't pulling this tidbit up.

Better put, go 'scan' -> 'scan for viruses' -> in the new window, select the drop down and select 'boot-time scan'

scan at boot
bootscan
scan before windows
how to kill java based malware
<insert other search phrases here>

Glad to help. The video was created because you asked the question.
If it was a problem for you, it may also be a problem for others. :)

Updated to 11.1.2241. NG no longer works. Have no option to run deep scan in a virtual machine. NG does not appear on the setup menu when I try to "change" in Programs and Features.

Windows 10 v10.0.10586 x64 Professional. Does VirtualBox not work in Windows 10? I have hardware virtualization on, as I used NG in previous versions of Avast!

Don't know if this is a new problem with 11.1.2241, or something that happened when I upgraded to Windows 10. I haven't checked NG in a while. But NG appears to be unavailable in Windows 10 x64 Pro.

That's strange, It's running like a charm on my 4 Computers without any problems.
Maybe if you explain your problems and give us some details about your system and any other security programs
currently or previously installed on your system, we can help you solve your problem. :)

If I understand you correctly, NG worked prior to updating Avast however you also upgraded to Windows 10 which could have corrupted Avast files.
A "Clean Install" of the Avast software will/ has solved many similar issues.
