Automatic renewal
« on: March 08, 2017, 10:08:04 AM »
I use Avast pro. I received a normal notification that the licence was due to run out in 9 days but that it was on automatic renewal. In due course the money was taken for the renewal. the licence on my account was updated and shown as valid until March 2018. But within Avast the subscription is shown as about to run out (but still flagged as auto renew). It invites me to renew the licence. Each day it counts down another day till runout. I submitted a formal ticket 5 days ago asking if this would be renewed without action on my part once it runs out on 13/3/2017. This has not been answered and is still marked as being processed. I have entered the new licence details and the activation key without changing the message on the subscription screen. Can anyone tell me if in a few days time I am faced with no protection or will it suddenly show it as valid for another year? I previous years I was not on auto renewal and simply bought another years licence and entered it. Any help appreciated as Avast simply seems to ignore me

Still counting down with 4 days to go. The ticket I submitted originally still not processed. Everything I see on internet tell me that the auto renewal only updates the licence and that I still have to insert it. I have done this several times with the updated licence to no avail. Please can anyone confirm that this is the case. Someone must have updated successfully through auto renewal. It seems impossible to get an answer out of Avast

I have now had a response to the submitted ticket. This to the effect that manual renewal is not normally required but suggesting that I carry out repair of Avast before activating the licence file. The licence is still marked as expiring on 13/3/2017 (today) and carrying out their procedure has no effect so far. I await reaching 14/3/2017 to see what happens then. My licence is still flagged as valid till 13/3/2018. I will update the information tomorrow

If you need it:

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

I had already tried the repair to no avail. Have just completed the clean re-install and now have the licence showing as valid until March 2018. Many thanks for that
