RPC Server

I don't have anti-virus protection. The last pop up I got said my virus definitions are out of date. I went to update them and the message I got was the RPC Server is too busy to complete this operation. I checked older boards and they suggested go to control panel and repair the program then reboot. Well, I have no "repair" button and I can't even uninstall the program. So now I don't have virus protection and I can't figure out how to fix this. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
In the control panel there is (or at least should be) software > avast > change
From there you can choose repair.
What do you mean with "can't even uninstall" ?
Did you tried it and if so how exactly.

The version of Avast is 2015.10.2.65535
I'm running Win10
I went to Control Panel, Avast, clicked change (nothing happened), clicked uninstall (nothing happened). Control Panel is, for all intents and purposes, ignoring me.

That doesn't sound good
It seems to me a good check wouldn't hurt.
