unable to update

My Auto Update has not been functioning properly for the last week or so.  I get an error message window saying "Last encountered error: Cannot connect to download37.avast.com" followed by an IP address.
The same problem happens when I try to update manually from the settings menu.  After discplaying the error message, Avast shuts down afterwards.
I checked my firewall settings, but nothing is "blocked"

Has anyone else had this problem?
Any ideas on how to remedy this?
