"This site is safe" Tick Blocking Text
« on: November 13, 2015, 05:13:16 PM »
On stackoverflow.com I'm reading a Question's answer-thread, and someone in one of the answers has posted a link. Next to the link is a tick from Avast which when hovered over displays a message that the site is safe. The tick is blocking the text to the right of the link.

Letting you know so that:
1) You might be able to help me work around the problem at my end.
2) You might be able to fix the problem out at the source, e.g. allow the tick to be dismissed or something.

Edit 1:
Windows 7 SP1
Avast 10.4.2233
Firefox 42.0

Edit 2:

Cheers.

If I understand you correctly, this is a ( cosmetical ) problem with Avast webrep on that website ?
Can you provide us with a screenshot ?

Hi Dozer Khan,

If persistent it is a typical issue where one would use an extension like Nuke Anything Enhanced (firefox and Google Chrome)
to just get that element off until the page reloads. So the next time the warning will show, but you won't have it when you do not wanna see it during that browser session with that page active in a tab. So a cosmetical page issue actually.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Is Eddy actually a bot? To my knowledge I am using the latest version...

Polonus, I tried the Addon you suggested and it doesn't work for this issue; thanks for the suggestion.

Does Avast read these forums, and are they interested in user-feedback like this? Would Avast actually want to fix such a bug as this?

A bot ?
There are no bots on this webboard.

The latest version can be found here :
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=178580.0

Yes
- people from avast are active on this webboard
- they do appreciate feedback
- they will try to fix bugs

When they look into a bug depends on how severe a bug is.
Security related bugs are (ofcourse) having the priority.

Thanks Eddy. It says 'Maybe Bot' by your avatar; this is why I was misled.

I've now upgraded to the latest version (11.1.2241) and the issue is still present.

Ah that.
Nothing I can do about it.
It is how avast has setup things on this webboard. ;)

Thanks bob3160; I did that and nothing changed. I also opened a new Firefox window after changing the settings and it made no difference.

Could you visit the following linked page for me, and tell me if you get the Tick Blocking Text problem? I get it on the top answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19747371/python-exit-commands-why-so-many-and-when-should-each-be-used

I presume this is what you are talking about ???

I can also presume that this is what you would like to see:

The second result was achieved with the following settings change:

Thanks bob3160, that worked for me too: the issue is now resolved.

I did play around with the settings before coming to this forum to ask my question, but until you turned up I didn't actually realise I could scroll down on the settings page, so I had only tested a fraction of the available settings, and that didn't include the relevant one.
