When I close down Windows, various of my taskbar icons close and the Avast Icon gets a small red cross against it (closing down) then windows shuts down. All perfectly normal I believe  ;)

for some reason, I thought Avast! should close last...
but, then, I am paranoid about my computer ( and I'll bet everyone noticed that! ;D)

Actually Walker is correct.  Windows calls for programs to load according to the settings in the Start.ini file
It will allow the programs to load in whatever order that the program itself can manage.  In other words, if a program does not hesitate, it loads first.  If a program has a delay loading a needed file, then another program will "jump in" ahead of it.

It really makes not difference in what order the programs shut down.  At that point, internet activity has ceased and your computer will remain protected.
