w?nlogon.exe

OK.  I've got w?nlogon.exe sitting on my Mom's Presario 2500 laptop (WinXPHome SP2).  It pops up from time to time, but even though Avast 4 Home recognizes it, it can't seem to delete/move/repair or move to chest.  Avast swears it's in C:\windows\system32\ but I can't find anything but the winlogon.exe program.  Howinsamhell do I get rid of this?  Heck, how can I even 'see' it?

Do you have "show all files" turned on in Windows Explorer?

Try Ewido Trojan remover: it has proved effective with similar process-injecting Trojans before:
