Smart Scan @ 43%
« on: November 17, 2015, 08:11:55 PM »
I  know this problem has several mentions on the forum , but has Avast or anyone found the fix at all, have read thru most of the postings on it but it seems nobody has solved the problem...am running Win 8.1 , have Avast Pro with latest updates but on a Smart Scan it jams on Home Network scan and will not scan past 43% , have paid good money for this product and surely it must be simple fix for the Avast experts ?

You say you are on the latest version, which is 11.1.2241. Is that the one you have ?

This is the version that I have currently. Running a Smart Scan from the avastUI home page 'Run Smart Scan' button and that completes my 3 elements Viruses, Outdated software and Network threats.

However, if I run the stand alone Scan for network threats, it takes some time and whilst it says it has completed one device is still running, but it says it is secure.

Thanks for your reply , 11.1.2241. is my version as well.
It sticks  @ 43% from Avast homepage Smart Scan button, also from the stand alone option .Have read other postings on the forum with the same issue , some say that even a fresh  Avast instal does not cure it.

There is currently a beta running, but I can't see anything on the info that relates to this.

Well I have done a clean install of this build as I was previously running the beta and had some issues - so for me I think it was worth it.

You could try an avast Repair as a first step and see if that makes any difference, if not a clean reinstall is the next option.

Many thanks or the reply.
Have done the Repair option , have attached  the screenshot that came up after the repair , " failed to load language dll"  the next screenshot shows it still will not progress past 43%  even after a 20 min wait on 43% !!
Tried the stand alone Network scan, as per the screenshot it it just keeps spinning, although it says "  Unkown IP..waiting  "..would this cause me any problems ?

Just had this come from Avast support ...TRIED WHAT THEY SAID BUT IT STILL STICKS ON 43%, I GIVE UP !!

t sounds like some of the files of the antivirus are corrupted; I'd recommend to completely uninstall Avast using Uninstall Utility and then reinstall.
Note: if you have any other antivirus, or any other security software, please uninstall it/them completely, if possible.

Uninstallation procedure:
1) Please use the Avast Uninstall Utility. You can download it at: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
3) Run 'avastclear.exe'.
2) Press "Yes" when prompted to start Windows in Safe Mode and continue with the uninstallation.
4) After uninstallation is complete, restart your PC.
Instructions with screenshots can be found here: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB10#artTitle

Reinstallation procedure:
1) Download the latest version of Avast from the following link: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
2) Save it on your Desktop.
3) Double-click on the installation file (avast_pro_setup.exe).
4) Follow the instructions on the screen and choose "30 day trial version".

5) Finally, insert your license file to activate Avast to FULL VERSION. Your license file is attached to this email.
Instructions to insert the license file can be found here: http://www.avast.com/faq/AVKB8#articleContent

For video tutorial to install Avast Pro, please visit the following webpage: http://www.avast.com/en-us/faq.php?article=AVKB105#articleContent
(You can also request a license file resent by filling up this form: http://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php )
