my.avast.com says shields are turned off
« on: November 18, 2015, 09:26:23 PM »
Is it normal? Program update is configured to manual, and only web and file shields are installed but they are active and seem to be working fine. Why does the website say that they are turned off?

It doesn't say they are turned off.

Look at the picture you provided.
It clearly say they are on.

The my.avast.com has a number of topics relating to the accuracy (or lack of it) of the data displayed for the device.

Personally I would trust what the avastUI and or the avast tray icon is telling you.

Something that you should check - avastUI > Settings > General > Status Monitoring and uncheck the Mail Shield monitoring and see that makes any difference.

It doesn't say they are turned off.

Look at the picture you provided.

Sorry Eddy, there is contradictory information displayed, which is certainly confusing. The text at the top 'Shields are turned off and the Real-Time Shields: has a Red X when it would be a Green check mark.

This shows all shields are running so I don't understand why it also shows that all shields are turned off.

Doesn't show that all shields are turned off on my win 7 computer but I'm still using version 2233 on that one.

As I said previously there are many instances of the my.avast.com not being completely accurate (and avast are planning a revamp of its stats, don't ask when I don't know).

A lot depends on how the data is communicated from your system to my.avast.com any issues there could lead to inaccurate data.

For me my.avast.com is a bit like the avastUI Statistics function, there isn't a great benefit in either (I only have my installations and I don't need something else to monitor them) - unless you happen to have your parents/family members installations connected (devices) to it so that you can monitor their avast status.
