Avast randomly shuts off several times a day

I recently replaced MSE with Avast. Uninstalled MSE before installing Avast.
The system tray icon turns red with an "X" The user interface shows:
YOU ARE UNPROTECTED! "Avast background service is not running"
I click start now and it's working again. Awhile later, same thing happens again.
I did a repair through Add or remove programs. No help.
I'm now in the process of uninstalling Avast with the avastclear.exe tool.
I'll reinstall MSE after that.
I'm posting this more to inform the community...If a lot of folks have this problem, it may not be quirks with individual PC.s
I'm using Avast on several other desktops with no problems, but I've had problems with this and the prior laptop.

You don't say what OS you are using on this system ?

Also you aren't using the latest version (which may resolve your issue) of avast 2016 11.1.2241.

I have Win7 Home Premium 64bit on this laptop. I had the latest version of Avast 10.4.223.
I had uninstalled MSE with Microsoft fixit tool for that purpose.
Other anti-malware: Malwarebytes anti-exploit [browser protector] On-demand free versions of Super Anti-spyware and Malwarebytes, all of which work fine with Avast on 5 Win 7 desktops.
I successfully uninstalled Avast with the Avastclear tool from safemode.
Ran Scannow to confirm system integrity.
Installed MSE. Updated & scanned..no badware found...a concern after Avsst's 'coffee breaks.'
Ran Super Anti-spyware, found and removed the usual collection of tracking cookies [which would have been there without Avast taking breaks]. Ran malware bytes...no badware.
Email works fine [tested]...had problems with Thunderbird & avast right after installation.
MSE up and running. Life is good.

avast and Malwarebytes does not target tracking cookies as they are not malware


Essexboy may spot the problem if you attach the requested diagnostic logs

While it might have been possible to find and correct the problem with diagnostic logs, my success rate in such endeavors is zero. I looked at other posts where similar problems had occurred and it seems like a huge time sink with little payoff.
I appreciate the offer, but since I have an acceptable solution, I don't want to take someones time chasing this rabbit.

Essexboys success rate is very high, solving all kinds of problems from those logs

For what it is worth, I had **exactly** the same problem with the older version suddenly shutting down frequently. Advise here was to remove it and install the new version. So I did and, after three days, no problems.
