After calling the phone line and I think overwhelming a poor customer support rep (sorry, he was awesome though), I'm turning here. The new update to avast stops all of my network drives, network applications (backburner), from working entirely.
I can't find a rule in here that would block these, the current ones show 5 bars all connections, but they do not work. The firewall log shows... nothing. No blocked traffic, so... what is happening? It's like it has windows networking entirely on block and I can't find any entry to fix it anywhere.
Uninstalling the product fixes it. Installing the older version fixes it. Updating causes it to stop working. If I disable all shields, it still doesn't work. But if I uninstall it, it does. I can't find any reason for it, and I'm hoping someone here can help before I abandon ship, so to speak.
If I install the older version and just do virus definition updates, will they be 'up to date' or do I need the latest version of the app as well? I'll stick with the old if that's an option. I'm a bit frustrated and I apologize for that but hopefully we can find a solution.
Thanks,
AJ
