should i allow blocked programs
« on: November 26, 2015, 09:49:26 PM »
i have the 'enable hardened mode' option checked. since doing that at least twice daily i get a series of popups one after the other for 5 straight minutes saying avast has blocked a program from starting. they are the same 5-6 programs each time. these programs seem to be legitimate however i am not sure if i should allow them to run. i only recently checked the hardened (moderate) mode and ever since i get the popups one after wiithin a matter of seconds from each other (sometimes many all at once).. then again the same thing a few hours later. how do i know if preventing them from running is detrimental to my computer's operation?? (they are mostly monitor programs and pivot, pivotmou, rpcnetp etc)

How long you have been using them and what is it that they do ?
Not knowing exactly what they do, I suspect that they possibly access areas that give cause for concern. A bit like a PUP, it can be used for good or evil, depending on who and why they were installed.

Until we know more, no one can give advice on if you should allow them.
Hopefully someone that also uses them can advise why they might be being pinged.

Hardened mode Aggressive is normally a little quieter than Moderate, which seems strange. It checks all files against the avast cloud.

Hi wmw,

If you could list the five or six problematic programs we could see what, if anything needs to be done from your end.

pivotmou seems to be a trojan.

rpcnetp seems to be from Absolute Software and is part of a tracking tool like the option that anti-theft from avast has.
