Firewall and rooting on Note 10.1 2014
« on: November 29, 2015, 05:16:05 PM »
Hi,

I'm a complete newbie regarding smartphones or tablets. Now, first thing I'd like to do is to secure my tablet. I installed Avast Mobile. It seems I'm a bit short enabling it's firewall. I get the message my device should be rooted.

First, I googled a bit and I found I will breach warranty if I root the tablet.
Second, I found some methods to actually root tablets but none of them is quite up to date.

Can you enlighten me or hint where to look for a solution? Help an oldie who got in touch with these things:)

Regards,

Igor

For certain functions to work, the mobile device needs to be rooted.

The methods may look outdated, but that is because the method('s) haven't changed.

Hi Igor,
exactly like Eddy says. Unfortunately now firewalll supports only rooted devices, which is advanced method for experienced users how to unlock more interesting features (but you can also potentially brick your device).

But there's also alternative - this app can be used on your device without root.

If you want a really good and efficient firewall, go for -https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.ukanth.ufirewall
