I can't get avast home ed. to work i have windows xp whats a rpcerror?

Could you refer to this forum and tell me if it helps?

As you can see, RPC (Remote Procedure Call) is a Windows Service and must be running...

Techncial is correct.  Remote Procedure Call process is required by Avast.

What was the actual RPC error message?

My concern with what you have stated here is did you remove AVG properly?  If not, it could cause a failure of Avast.

Also, what virii did AVG find that it could not repair and where were they located?
What virii did Avast find and their path?

This would help me evaluate what damage may have been done to your system.

Please let me know your:
Browser
Firewall or Proxy filter
Any other blocking software (adware, spyware, cookies, activex etc.)
