I wanted to remove 3 items in my avast shopping cart but could not find a edit icon,so clicked on a link for Avast support by putting in to my browser "Avast support " rang the number and spoke to an american sounding man, he said he would sort it out, 5 minutes later my husband answered the phone and an american sounding chap said he was from Avast and would need to take control of the computer, stupidly we let him.
At the top of the window he opened it said " GuruAid" I felt uneasy. He downloaded
MSEssentials, and said i did not need Avast and Malwarebytes, and if we paid £80 he would put a different A/Virus on.My husband demanded he give him back control of my pc NOW, which he did right away. But afterwards it was strange. The background was black instead of blue and an icon appeared in the task bar of an indians head wearing a turban. Plus every time I turned on the pc a box appeared top rt hand corner headed GuruAid and the head of the indian, with options and at the bottom " a technician will be with you soon " I removed the tick from allow remote assistance connections to this computer.
Don,t allow connections is already marked.Once I had done this everything went back to normal , or is it?
i have done a full system scan with my free Avast programme and a malware bytes scan with free MB.They found nothing wrong! I also have malwarebytes anti exploit free programm
Please do I have any key loggers or some one watching to come in the backdoor.
How do I know.
