Avast and Outlook

Two questions.
1.  Are there specific issues in Avast that would interfere with setting up Outlook (new installation, never used)?  This is actually happening with another e-mail program.

2. Avast continually shows that 1 shield is disabled (from the tray icon) and clicking enable all does not change that.  The user interface warns that a shield is not enabled and resolve all does nothing.   The shield in question seems to be the mail shield.

Please try running a 'Repair' of your Avast installation

In regards to your question #1; I myself use MS Outlook 2010 and Avast 2015 and have no issues of any kind, all messages appear to get scanned by the Avast "mail shield". I can only speak to these two versions personally however but that said, I would assume that more recent versions of either would perform in like manner as well.
