ERROR 42127
« on: December 09, 2015, 08:36:00 PM »
Hi, on a whim  i did a Boot time scan , what came up on every sections scan on C drive was  ..
CAB ( ARCHIVE IS CORRUPTED ) ERROR 42127
Did a Google on the error number, general advice seems to be just to delete all temp files , did that but got the same result when did another Boot time scan.
Should i be alarmed or is the error not a big problem ?

=Avast! is saying everything on your C:\ is corrupt? Either Avast! is bugged, or you have a very serious issue. Or I misunderstood what you said.

Follow Pondus`advice please and post a screenshot.

Hi ,thanks for the replies...tried to take a screenshot whilst it was doing a boot time scan , but when i checked my Screenshot folder it did not copy it , am not too pc savvy so should it take the screenshot whilst even though its scanning ?
Did my usual screenshot method of pressing the Win Icon and Print Screen button ,is there a better method at all ?

Hi, have tried all the sequences shown on the links, but none of them will save a screenshot of the scan in progress..may i  ask if your pc will save a screenshot during a Boot time scan at all , if its yes then i must have something set up wrong i guess.
Thanks for the replies.

when scan is done, then you take a screenshot of the result

why do you run boot scan?

Ok will try and catch the end of the scan ,although it takes ages to finish then the pc  immediatley starts the desktop up so wil see if i can be there at the end !
Only did the scan on a whim when i saw it on the Avast scan drop down list , never done one before so it was just out of sheer curiosity ,perhaps i should have just kept on doing the normal scan !

Boot scan is not meant to be used as a regular scan, it is something you use if you have problems removing a infection

Clear all temp folders with this

TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer  http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/files/file/187-tfc-temp-file-cleaner-by-oldtimer/

when done, run a new scan, do you still see that error

It is normal, happens after evry update.  The tool is used here by the malware removal team so no danger

right click on avast tray icon and pause shields, then download again
