G'day Avast,

Just letting you know the Avast Online Security Extension for Firefox v43.0 is automatically disable without the latest Mozilla verifies and "signs" I think you know what this means.

Hi SpeedyPC :)

No problems here :-\
Have you tried to uninstall - and install Browser protection ( again ) ?

1) Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Avast - Change.
2) Change.
3) Uncheck Browser protection.
4) Continue.
5) Reboot.

Now folllow the above steps again, but in step 3 you check Browser protection ( again ).

Greetz, Red.

G'day Red,

I hope your nose is bright red enough to find your way in the dark for Santa otherwise he is looking you to make sure all the Christmas gift must deliver on time before Boxing Day ;)

Any way it took me 3 tries to get AOS Extension for Firefox v43.0 to work, however Avast still needs the latest Mozilla verifies and "signs" otherwise it will keep on automatically disable by FF.

Cheers.

SpeedyPC :)

I had the same problem with Avast 2015 and during Avast 2016 Beta testing.
With the official release of Avast 2016, I ( went back to a pre Beta Windows image and ) did a clean install of Avast.
That solved it for me, and that is why I beleve it has something to do with the ( old ) Avast installation.

Well I did a complete clean install and the issue is still there, I believe Mozilla is getting very serious about this new move on verifies and "signs" section for all extension add-on for FF :-\

Those that want the AOS alerts in firefox before waiting that AOS is meeting firefox development signing demands can use Safe Preview 1.1.2.1-signed which has Google Advisory, McAfee, NortonSafe Web, WOT, Avast!, TrustWave an DrWeb online check aboard.

From ghacks.net :

Firefox 43 is the first version of the browser that enforces add-on signing. The browser will block the installation of add-ons that are not signed.

Mozilla planned to launch the feature with Firefox 40 initially but postponed it to Firefox 43 instead. Please note that this will affect already installed add-ons as well.

Firefox 43 ships with an override to install unsigned add-ons in the browser.

 1.Load about:config in the browser's address bar.
2.Confirm you will be careful if the prompt appears.
 3.Search for xpinstall.signatures.required.
4.Double-click the preference to set it to false.

Mozilla plans to remove the preference in Firefox 44.

Hi,

to clarify. On my.avast.com is available FF 43 compatible version for few weeks.
But most of the users has AOS installed within Avast AV. If these users have V2016+, then they got the signed AOS FF plugin. For the older versions of Avast we launched a silent update last week that is updating the AOS plugin to signed version as well.

Not really sure why SpeedyPC got its plugin disabled, but it shouldn't happened. If it happens, usually restarting Firefox helps as the new plugin is loaded.

Martin
