installed windows 7 ultimate x64 will not work with avast
« on: December 19, 2015, 10:59:40 PM »
I installed windows 7 ultimate x64 build 7601 and then downloaded the free avast and after download and install it crashes  windows.  it will not work with Win 7 ultimate x64.
Goes to the Blue screen of death and reboots and did it over and over....
I had to go in in safe mode and uninstall it before I could get windows to boot right again.

Is there a known problem with windows 7 ultimate x64 build 7601 and the newest avast free download ?

help  i need  virus protection and  this isnt working.......

Being as how it's a Clean install of OS we can rule out another 3RD Party Antivirus Software.

I'm not aware of any 'specific' issue with your OS and Avast.
Did you run a "Custom Install"?
I recall an issue I had some time ago and decided to track it down. I used the "Custom Install" option in the installer and only installed the essential SHIELDS and none of the components in the "Tools" column.
Seemed to work at the time.
You can then go back and install (one at a time) any of the tools. Evaluate consequences.
