WMI not recognising Avast install
« on: January 07, 2016, 01:02:44 PM »
Morning all.

Have around 25 machines running EPP. Ever since a windows update went on just before xmas, not one copy of windows (7) on all the machines  is now recognising avast as being installed.

This wouldn't usually cause too many issues as as long as Avast is running then everything would be OK.....but........ We have a case management system here which interacts with Outlook (2010) and because windows wont detect thaqt AV has been installed, then Outlook wont play ball with any other applications interacting with it.

Anyone come across this so far/find a way of resolving it?

Cheers.

This sounds to me as a well known bug in Windows that has been there since XP.

Do you have the hotfix for it installed on those systems ?

This is not problem of Windows, but problem with update process of Avast EPP.
It is happening on W7 and W8.  See https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=180431.0

Only thing you can do is uninstall Avast, run Avastclear and install it again fresh from generated package on each computer.
