New update keeps asking for restart
« on: November 26, 2003, 08:27:07 PM »
^ Subject ^  Is this happening to anyone else? I just got an update of either 700+k or 7mb(depending on which screen was displayed) and now Avast keeps asking if it can restart my system.

I have let it restart 5(five) times and it still asks if it can restart my system.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Do a manual update by right clicking on the icon ball.  See if that will get rid of the problem.

I have, twice. It still keeps asking if i wish to restart...

I have let it restart 6 times now, the last ime it asked I chose not to. I don't want to see this request every time I start or recieve an update. It has never done this before.

Others have had similar problems.  Do a search on this forum or scan through the topic titles.  You'll find a solution.

Oh no, again?

Can you, please, send me your files setup.ini and setup.log from avast4\setup directory, together with short explanation (cut'n'paste from here) to setup-support AT asw D0t cz

Thanks,

In alwil software\avast4\setup directory. Avast is by default installed in your program files directory, which is usually on C: drive. So, in most setups I would say: 'c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\setup'

I can't seem to find the specified files so, I will sendthe entire setup folder...here it comes!

If this is not the proper folder, I will send the entire program.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry but, there is not a file with the name setup.ini anywhere inside the setup folder. I tried to send the entire folder to your specified address but that is not possible as the folder is over 7MB.

Please give the exact location for the files in question.

Thank you.

It is there. Most probably, your windows are not showing you the extension. But they should write some type of file there. My W2ks write 'configuration file' and for setup.log 'text document'.

Thanks kubecj for your time. I sent mine setup files (ini and log). Could you see if anything is wrong?  ;D

I just did the uninstall, downloaded the new version, installed it, registered it and all seems to be fine.

Thank you for your patience with me!
